Karen Braz (Youtheatre Stage Manager, Teacher)

Karen Braz is the instructor of Theatre Workshop I and Theatrical Makeup. In the past, Karen has also been the Director of Young Actors Ensemble. Karen was bitten by the theatre bug (more years ago than she cares to remember!) while watching her mother’s production of Winnie-the-Pooh! Since then, she has performed with the Piett Pipper Children’s Theatre in North Conway, NH, the Emerson College Theatre Education Company in Boston, MA, the Golden Apple Dinner Theatre in Sarasota, FL, and Kaleidoscope Theatre in Providence, RI. She holds degrees in sign language interpreting, speech and language, and teaching English as a Second Language from UNH and Notre Dame. Her work as a sign language interpreter has not, however, interrupted her involvement with the Community Players of Concord, NH. In 1996, the Players gave Karen the green light to establish the Children’s Theatre Project (CTP), founded for the purpose of providing experiences in theatre by and for children. She has directed many productions and run more than ten theatre camps for the CTP. The CTP was named Best Children’s Theatre at the 2004 NH Theatre Awards.
